4-5-2011 Whew how time flies. Rick Owen is opening his pizza/salad
bar/game room at the old video hits building on main street hiway 55.
Grand opening is scheduled for April 20, 2011. Rick is planning a "all
you can eat" buffet in the future. Lots of moisture this spring, river
is full from Lake Cascade. Hiway 55 has been closed north of Banks for
rock slides. Premier Designs' High Fashion Jewelry show at the Ashley
Inn on April 30th, 1-5 p.m. in a drop-in setting. Door prizes and

3-3-2011 Awesome Chamber Winter Jamboree, good food by American
Legion, 164 fun run hands sold by West Mountain Snowmobile Club and
Kelly Chamberlain did a GREAT job selling the donated items at the
auction. Thanks to all who participated. Including the weenie hot dog
wagon at four corners. The Cascade Chamber raised over $7,500.00 to go
towards the fourth of July fireworks.
2-10-2011 New West Mountain Groomer opening up new areas to
snowmobile. Chamber fun run, auction and Mexican feed is planned for
February 19, 2011. Plan to attend this Chamber fun raiser, all monies
raised will go towards the 4th of July Fireworks to be held on Sunday,
July 3rd at Lake Cascade park by the Lakefront and boat ramp.
2-2-2011 Colder temperatures today but warming up for the weekend.
Hiway 55 is clear at this time but watch out for black ice in the a.m.
Fishing is spotty, with some larger trout being caught. Southern Valley
County Recreation District is proceeding with their plans to build a
pool and exercise facility adjacent to the softball field south of
Cascade. Snow groomers continue to smooth out the trails on the
mountains. NEW snowmobile trail maps are available.
1-21-2011 Mild temperatures continue here in January 2011. Snow this
evening possible and into early morning Saturday. Real Estate market
continues to struggle as well as rentals. Cascade Chamber Winter
Jamboree is on for Saturday, February 19, and drags on the 20th if snow
conditions are favorable. Chamber Auction & feed on the 19 at American
Legion Hall starting at 6:00p.m. Money raised at the auction goes
towards funding the 4th of July fireworks at Lake Cascade.
1-6-2011 HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Snowmobilers are traveling across the lake
from the boat ramp at the Lakefront Restaurant (please travel at your
own risk). Temperatures have warmed up the last couple of days. Looks
like Tamarack may loose 2 ski lifts. 18" plus of snow downtown Cascade.
Hiway 55 has a broken snow floor. Lots of powder snow on top of
mountains.
12-30-2011 Wow how time flies when you are having fun. 2'-3' snow in
Cascade on the level. Went to YellowPine on Monday and Landmark had 2'
new untouched powder all the way down Johnson Creek and with this new
18" since then, the trail will be awesome. 8 degrees in Boise projected
and that will mean minus temps in Cascade.
12-8-2010 Lite snow overnite in Cascade. Lake has NOT frozen enough
for travel this winter. Temperatures have been moderately warm so far.
Cascade Food Pantry, LLC will open its doors on January 20, 2011, at 118
Main Street, downtown Cascade, formerly AmeriTitle Building. The new
snow groomer for the Cascade Area will arrive sometime between
12-20-2010 and 1-15-2011. Other Valley County groomers will assist in
grooming the Cascade/Warm Lake Area until the new machine arrives.
11-28-2010 Snow conditions in Long Valley. Cascade will get a new
snow groomer this year, thanks to Valley County Commissioner Gordon
Cruickshank, and we have two new groomer employees for the Cascade
Area.(experienced) Lake Cascade has NOT frozen over yet. I will be

11-9-2010 COLD morning this a.m., first hard freeze of this fall.
Rain forecasted this week in Valley County. Cascade Lake remains clear,
people are still fishing from boats. New Valley County building is
progressing well with the 2nd story walls in place. Snow has fallen on
Big Creek and Warm Lake Summits. South Fork Road repairs have been
completed and is passable.
10-19-2010 Overnight temps are starting to fall in Valley County.
Time to put things away and get out the snow removal equipment. South
Fork Salmon Road is now open and repaired. Short delays due to paving
and resurfacing. Kitchen remodel at the American Legion Post is under
way and things are tore up substantially. Good Cascade Chamber noon
meeting today with guest speaker Dr. Stan Olson who is running for Idaho
Superintendent of Public Instruction. Don't forget to vote on November
2nd, tuesday.
10-2-2010 Another beautiful fall day in Valley County but that
is going to change tomorrow on Sunday. A 20 degree drop in temp.
minimum. Cascade has a new impact area to guide growth and voters
approve a $900,000 a year supplemental school levy. Big Game rifle
season started at 7:15 a.m. when the first shots woke me up. Tamarack
Ski Resort is going to be open December 20, 2010 for skiing according to
the news media.
9-24-2010 Beautiful fall day in Valley County. The leaves are turning
and falling from the trees. Hunters are coming thru town in search of
the wiley elk or big buck. Kelly's Whitewater Park Welcome Center has
been closed for the cold season but the rapids remain open for boaters
all year. Cascade School levy passed by 53% yesterday. Cascade
Rambler football team is doing well this season. Dick Vandenburg and
helpers painted the football scoreboard.
9-9-2010 Rain lately, fall type weather in Cascade. Hurd fire is
contained and lots of firefighters have gone home. Chamber fundraiser is
coming 11-13-2010 Winit in a Minute, American Legion doors open @ 6 p.m.
dinner and fundraiser. New asphalt parking lots at the hospital this
week. Road reconstruction on the South Fork of the Salmon River has
begun and is scheduled to be done later on this fall. Local Option Sales
Tax and Local Option User Fee public hearing on September 13, 2010 at
6p.m. Cascade Senior Center, 409 N. School Street, Cascade, Idaho
8-28-2010 Tis fire season in Valley County and the Hurd fire just
south of Tamarack Resort is really creating havock. 725 fire fighters,
21 crews, 22 engines, 10 helicopters, 6 water tenders, one dozer and 8
planes at last count. Huckleberrys were slim this year, not the crop we
had last year. Environmental impact study is done on the south fork road
reconstruction and hopefully it will get rebuilt prior to winter setting
in.
8-12-2010 Lots of rain lately. Good Valley County Fair animal
auction. 4-H-ers with their animals did really well at the sale. Kelly
Chamberlin was auctioneer and he does a GREAT JOB. Some interesting news
about Tamarack and the possibility of a sale. Lots of positive feedback
from the 3 Summit Challenge with over 400 signing up for the long run
and 50 young adults for the short run. The run next year will be even
bigger. Lots of campers in the parks around Lake Cascade this year.
7-28-2010 Another fine day in Cascade, Idaho. Weather is mild, clear
skies. Approx. 359 cyclists have signed up for the 3 Summit ride to
Landmark Summit and back. Saturday, July 31, 2010 is the day with
riders beginning at Armstrong Park, 8:00 a.m. A Kobe Beef BBQ will start
at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the beef runs out. Cascade school
reunion this weekend including graduates from 1921 thru 1985. Valley
County Fair and Rodeo begins next week, 8-2-2010 and runs all week.
7-15-2010 AWESOME 4th of July on the 3rd. BIG Parade, lots of
people, Lions Club did GREAT along with hotels and motels. Fireworks was
HUGE, lots of people and the weather was perfect. Cascade Chamber
received a large donation from a gentleman towards next years fireworks.
We had a air force flyover at 11:15 a.m. during the parade. Fishing is
good in Lake Cascade and the 3 Summit Challenge is still on tap for July
31st 2010.
6-25-2010 Three Summit Challenge is coming up on July 31st.
2010. 222 participants have signed up for this event. Lake Cascade is
full of water and fishing is GREAT. We still have snow at the higher
elevations on West Mountain and the back country mountain passes.
Kelly's Whitewater Park continues to attract visitors daily. Remember
Valley County Court House is closed on fridays except for the Recorders
Office and they remain open on Fridays. South Fork Road remains closed
due to the road being washed out during the last rain storms.
6-18-2010 Big turn out for Kelly's Whitewater Park grand opening
Monday. Nez Perce tribe did a awesome presentation and well as Governor
Butch Otter. Green grass everywhere due to all the rain recently. YMCA
Camp also opened at Horsethief on Sunday the 13 of June, 2010. Ballot
recount for Valley County Clerk was held and Archie Banbury election win
was upheld and he will serve another term. Lake Cascade remains full as
well as the North Fork Payette River.
6-10-2010 BIG WATER coming over the spillway at the Cascade Dam.
Water is being dumped to allow for more storage in Lake Cascade and
Payette Lake due to recent rain storms. Lots of flooding in Valley
County. South Fork Salmon River Road has been closed due to washout of
road near Buckhorn Bar. Kelly's Whitewater Park opening on Monday, June
14, 2010 at 12:30 p.m., dedication service at 2:00 by Nez Perce Tribe,
3:00 Governor Otter, lots of activities. FREE gourmet hamburger or hot
dog plus drink to first 1,000 visitors.
6-1-2010 Fishing report from Lake Cascade is BIG PERCH and 14"-16"
trout. Fish from the bank with your secret bait (worm and marsh mellow
or power bait). Fishing from the tower by the dam you will need to go
deep for the big perch. If you are fishing shallow, you may get the
small perch. Real Estate market is still slow, hopefully spring will
bring the buyers. More home sales than bare ground. Nice and green
in Valley County from all the rain. Repair work on the South Fork Road,
expect delays, Johnson Creek Road is open, maybe a little rough on top.
5-18-2010 LOTS of rain and lightning last night in Long Valley. Good
for the grass and water shed. One week from today for elections. Real
Estate market is starting to pick-up somewhat in Valley County. Road
repairs on the South Fork of the Salmon River are in progress with
delays. Watch for rocks and trees along that stretch of road, especially
after a hard rain. Salmon fishing season is on in Riggins and fishermen
are doing well.
4-30-2010 GREAT Howdy's Fishing tournament. Ice was still on the lake
but lots of people showed up and went fishing anyway. A lady from Boise
won the $400.00 with a 4.46 lb. rainbow. Ice has since gone off Lake
Cascade. 8+ inches of snow earlier in the week. Cascade area citizens
are talking to Southern Valley County Rec. District Board about building
a pool in Cascade.
4-6-2010 American Legion Hall Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration,
Saturday, May 8 doors open at 4:00--Dinner served 5:00-6:00. Traditional
Mexican Dinner and a Live Auction. For more information go to

4-5-2010 Howdy's Annual Fishing Tournament is Saturday, April 24th
and Sunday, April 25th, 2010 First prize adults $400.00, first place
juniors is $100.00. Prizes for largest non-game fish, largest stringer,
highest weight of 5 perch. Sponsored in part by Cascade Chamber of
Commerce.
3-26-2010 GRAND OPENING on June 12, 2010 at the Y camp at Horsethief
Reservoir. Go out Warm Lake Highway and turn right at sign to Horsethief

Skif of snow this a.m. everything is coming together for the summer
events in Cascade.
3-11-2010 Tamarack trial will be moved to Valley County this fall.
Real Estate market is picking up somewhat. Several rock slides have
blocked the Thunder Mountain excursion train from using the tracks and

3-5-2010 Overcast day, hiway 55 is clear and dry downtown Cascade.
Lions Club Easter Egg hunt is 11:00 a.m. on April 3, 2010 at the Ashley
Inn downtown Cascade. Come join us in this free event. Rocks are being
placed in the river for Kellys Whitewater Park. Construction is
progressing on the event center.
2-19-2010 AMERICAN LEGION to hold chili cook-of on March 6th 2010.
Admission $5.00 and $2.00 for 11 and younger. No fee to chili cooker.
Water supply outlook looks bleak for most areas of state. Brad Houser
caught a 4.48 pound rainbow to take the Tackle Tom's annual fishing
derby.
2-16-2010 GREAT Chamber Winter Jamboree Weekend, good auction, good
fun run to 4 corners on West Mountain, GREAT taco bar at American Legion
Hall Saturday night. Yellow Pine Harmonica contest on August
6,7,8, 2010, 2 judges and lots of fun.
2-12-2010 Warm Lake 3 Summit Challenge (Ride like a Goat)
presented by George's Cycles & Fitness will be held 7-31-2010, go to

to register for the race. 55 people have signed up already. Good
turn-out at Kellys Whitewater Meeting last night. Project is progressing
with a concert this summer in Donnelly.
2-3-2010 Valley County halts funding for economic development
specialist. Southern Valley County Rec. District will hold public
gatherings to ask you, the district patrons, for your suggestions on
what improvements you would like to see, a recreation center/swimming
pool?? Legion will have a taco bar at saturday nite Chamber Auction at
American Legion Hall. Come on down and help support the 4th of
July Fireworks in Cascade to be held on saturday the 3rd at Van Wyck
Park.
1-27-2010 Nice mild winter so far in Cascade. Whitewater
Meeting at the American Legion Hall on 2-11-2010 at 6 p.m. Cascade
public hearing on water regulations Feb. 22, 2010 6p.m. city hall.
Winter Jamboree is coming up on 2-13, & 14, 2010. Fun run, drag races,
feed and auction on saturday nite at American Legion Hall. Join Cascade
Chamber of Commerce and get involved in the community activities.
1-21-2010 4 new inches of snow this a.m., rocks are being placed in
the North Fork of the Payette River for the Whitewater Park. Bike ride
on 7-31-2010 is progressing with meetings and planning in the works.
Chamber registration forms went out this week, so JOIN the Chamber and
help promote Cascade, Idaho. Cascade Winter Jamboree is coming up on
February 13, 14, with fun run on 13 to West Mountain, food and auction
Saturday night at American Legion. Proceeds from auction are used to pay
for 4th of July Fireworks to be held on Saturday, July 3rd 2010, Thunder
Mountain Day Parade will be held on Saturday also.
1-5-2010 3-4 inches of wet new snow, 35 degrees, yuck. Fourth
of July parade on saturday July 3, 2010 along with the fireworks on the
3rd also. Broke down groomers, hopefully will be fixed by the weekend.

Visitors Center is moving along. Avalanche danger due to snow conditions

12-16-09 Possible Warm Lake Three Summit Challenge (Ride Like a Goat)
being planned for 7-31-2010. Kristen Armstrong, Greg Randolph and
others. A web site is being developed. 5 softball tournaments are being
planned for the summer of 2010. 12"+ new snow within the last 24 hours.
Payette River Coffee & Bistro is now open serving breakfast and lunch
7am-2pm seven days a week, corner of Main and Payette Street, Cascade,
Idaho. Remember to pay your property taxes by December 21, 2009.
12-11-09 Wellington Real Estate has 1 & 2 bedroom rental
apartments and a house at this time. Tamarack may have some cat-skiing
and snowmobile tours this winter. Cascade GIVING TREE is up at Cascade
Auto. Snow predicted over the weekend for Valley County. American Legion friday dinner is Pizza with an open bar.
12-4-09 Ashley Inn Craft Faire this weekend. Lake Cascade is almost
frozen over. Support local Cascade Chamber members and their businesses.
Work on dam has been completed and the road over the dam is open for
vehicle travel. Valley County Fair Board is considering changing the
Valley County Fair dates from the first full week to the second full
week in August.
11-30-09 Payette River Coffee Bistro (formerly Moxie Java Building) will
open on Dec. 14, 2009, downtown Cascade. More information to come.
11-30-09 Concrete being poured on the Whitewater Park building today.
American Legion volunteers installed new lights on the downtown trees.
Really looks nice at night. No new snow and some ice forming on Lake
Cascade.
11-22-09 4-5" snow this A.M. Melting on hiway 55 at this
time, no ice on lake, clear and beautiful.
11-20-09 American Legion to provide Thanksgiving Dinner Nov. 26 from 1-3
p.m. Ground breaking was held on Wednesday 11-18-09 for the 2,600 sq.ft.
Kelly's Whitewater Park welcome center building. Wellington Real Estate

11/16/09 Whitewater Park Visitors Center
groundbreaking ceremony will be Wednesday, 11-18-09 at noon. Turn east
at Mill Street to Old Boise Cascade Mill site. New sports bar in town
located across the hall from Whistle Stop Cafe downtown Cascade.
11/15/2009: Kellys White Water Park, Rocks
are being hauled into old Boise Cascade Mill site for placement into the
river sometime into the future. No ice on Lake Cascade as of yet. 1-3"
of snow downtown Cascade. Armstrong park renovation will be completed in
the spring of 2010. Playground equipment is in place and being used.
Cascade Chambers dinner/desert auction was a huge success, raising about
$4,000.00 towards the 4th of July Fireworks 2010. Public meeting with
Idaho Transportation Department 4-7p.m. American Legion Hall on Tuesday
November 17, 2009 to discuss the Payette River Bridge Project at the
south bridge, Cascade, Idaho. Stop in anytime.
